 Cher…Turning Back Time

One of the few people on earth who are known by just 4 letters: Cher. She was born in 1946 to a mother who married 7 times and because of this, moved her daughters all around the United States. A very shy girl, Cheryl Sarkisian seemed to be the last person who would be famous.

It was through her meeting with and marriage to Sonny Bono, who pushed her to be a solo artist, that she eventually gained the confidence to leave Sonny & Cher behind and establish herself as an icon. Not just due to her singing and her outrageous and daring outfits, but also as an Oscar-winning actress.

From Sonny & Cher’s hits like “I Got You Babe” and “Baby Don’t Go,” to her unforgettable number one hits in the early days, like “Half Breed” and “Dark Lady,” Cher has been able to reinvent herself time and time again. Since her number one song “Believe” in 1998, she has become a world-wide phenomenon with staying power like very few other entertainers.

Robert will take you back in time and explore how Cher got started, and how her life has developed her into the icon we now know and love.
