Known as \u201cthe Little Sparrow,\u201d Edith Piaf was raised by her paternal grandmother, who ran a French brothel.<\/h4>

In 1935 she was discovered singing on a street corner in Paris, when she bounced around under the protection of a number of different men. She ultimately, became one of the most recognizable voices of the 20th\u00a0<\/sup>century with songs like \u201dLa Vie en Rose<\/em>\u201d, \u201cMilord<\/em>\u201d and \u201cNon, Je Ne Regrette Rien<\/em>.\u201d<\/h4>

She married twice, had a long string of handsome lovers, and had one child, born out of wedlock who died at 2 years old.<\/h4>

Prolonged use of alcohol abuse and copious amounts of medications, as well as a series of car accidents, led to her early death at age 47 in 1963. She was so passionate about her signing, that it has been said that \u201cshe sang herself to death.\u201d<\/h4> <\/div>\n<\/div>\n
