When her parents divorced, her father moved the family to St. Louis, Missouri. It is there that she met Ike Turner, who took her under his wing. She married him, and he renamed her Tina Turner.<\/strong><\/h3><h3><strong>Ike &amp; Tina Turner became famous through hits like <em>River Deep, Mountain High<\/em> and <em>Proud Mary<\/em>. Unfortunately, Ike was a very abusive and domineering man, and it led to Tina attempting suicide in 1968. It took all her strength to get out from under him, and the divorce was finalized in 1978.<\/strong><\/h3><h3 style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Initially her solo career went nowhere. But in 1984 she released the <em>Private Dancer<\/em> album, with now-classic songs like <em>Let\u2019s Stay Together<\/em>, and her anthem <em>What\u2019s Love Got To Do With It<\/em>. The success of the album brought her back on top and made her a global superstar. She continued her success with <em>We Don\u2019t Need Another Hero<\/em> (1985) from the movie <em>Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome<\/em>, and <em>The Best<\/em> (1989).<\/strong><\/h3><h3 style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Although she continued touring, she did not record any music after 2000. She also decided to move permanently to Europe and eventually became a citizen of Switzerland, where she lived with her second husband.
